Abstract
1287983 Air cooling installations DAIMLERBENZ AG 7 Oct 1970 [11 Oct 1969] 47710/70 Heading F4S [Also in Division F1] A compressed air stream 82 to be used in the cooling of turbine blades (see Division F1) circulated through a heat exchanger 76 wherein it is cooled by a circulated liquid heat transfer medium (e.g. water to which a lubricant and/or antifreeze agent has been added) which then gives up the absorbed heat to another air stream 84 in a heat exchanger 77. The system shown in Fig. 4 comprises the heat absorbing and heat emitting heat exchangers 76, 77 in which are respectively disposed tube sections 87, 83 through which the heat transfer liquid is circulated by a pump 78. Liquid is taken from the tank 87 by a pump 85 and passed through non-return valve 90 into the line 80, a relief valve 92 being provided back to the tank. An expansion chamber 100 is provided, and also a relief valve 101. A warning device 105, 106 indicates any loss of liquid.
