Abstract

1287625 Toilet soap PROCTOR & GAMBLE Ltd 24 Aug 1970 [25 Aug 1969 4 Dec 1969 19 May 1970] 42264/69 59299/69 and 24171/70 Heading C5D A toilet soap having good wear and lathering properties comprises sodium soaps of a fatty acid mixture consisting essentially of, by wt., (A) 30-43% of saturated fatty acids having 8 to 15 C atoms and mean molecular wt. 186-214, (B) 36-47% saturated fatty acids having 16 to 18 C atoms and mean molecular wt. 256-284, (C) 14-30% of mono- and di-unsaturated fatty acids (but not more than 5% of di-unsaturated acids) having 16 to 18 C atoms and mean molecular wt. 275-282; the soap being incompletely neutralized to an extent such that the molecular equivalent of from 5 to 12% of lauric acid, by wt. of the fatty acid mixture, is present as free fatty acid. 7-16% of water may be present in the soap bar. The sodium soaps may be replaced by potassium soaps up to 4À5% lauric acid (equivalent). The soap is prepared by the saponification of a mixture of natural fats and added fatty acids. Perfumes, colours, bactericides and emollients may be present.
