Abstract

1287165 Selective operation of electromagnets PHILIPS ELECTRONIC & ASSOCIATED INDUSTRIES Ltd 30 April 1970 [3 May 1969 6 May 1969] 20868/70. Heading H3T [Also in Division G4] Magnets 5<SP>1</SP>, for example of the column of punches of a mosaic type printer, are selected by triggerable semi-conductor switches 5 and energization is controlled, e.g. via amplifier and switch circuit 3, 4, by a monostable circuit 1<SP>1</SP>, 1<SP>11</SP> having a timing resistor 7 connected to the energizing supply for the magnets so that if the supply voltage decreases due for example to an increase in the number of magnets in use over a period of time, the duration of energization is increased. More uniform printing is thus obtained. Further uniformity is provided if the timing circuit also includes a transistor 10 controlled by a summing circuit 10 providing a voltage indicating the number of magnets being selected.
