Abstract

1286259 Vehicle seats TELEFLEX Ltd 27 Oct 1969 [31 Oct 1968] 51556/68 Heading A4J A shock-resisting seat for a vehicle or aircraft, to which safety harness can be attached, comprises a hip frame 12 with laterally extending wings and a back spine 13 and seat spine 14; the respective spines progressively increase in cross-sectional area towards the hip frame and have substantially the same depth as the latter at their junction therewith. In the form described the hip frame is formed of two mating pressings 11A, 11B, to provide a box-like structure which is attached to the vehicle structure at points 24 and is supported also by a strut 26. The seat spine 14 has an integral seat pan 15 with stiffening ribs 17, and the back spine 13, which is made wide at the top to support the occupant's shoulders, has a fixed shoulder cushion 28, a separate adjustable lumber cushion 29, and an adjustable heat-rest 30. Safety-harness anchorages are provided on the hip frame, and a shoulder strap may run down inside the back spine 13 to a retraction reel at the middle of the spine. The seat may be adjustable in any known manner.
