1286044 Photographic direct positive silver halide emulsion FUJI PHOTO FILM CO Ltd 8 Jan 1970 [8 Jan 1969] 991/70 Heading G2C A fogged direct positive silver halide photographic emulsion contains at least one dye having one of the formulae:- where R and R<SP>1</SP> are each alkyl, substituted alkyl including aralkyl or substituted aralkyl, or allyl; L is methine or methine substituted by alkyl or aryl; Z and Q each complete 5- or 6-membered heterocyclic rings m and p are 0, 1 or 2; X is an anion and n is 0 or 1. The dye gives a low minimum density and high contrast.
