Abstract
1283719 Coating by moulding ROLLSROYCE Ltd 14 Oct 1969 50374/69 Heading B5A The aerofoil section blade, of glass fibre reinforced resin, is degreased with chlorohydrocarbon solvent and located in a polyvinyl acetate release agent coated cavity, defining also a leading edge of the blade, of a mould heated to 80‹ C. After placing a mixture of polyurethane and a solvent on the blade, the mould is closed in under 60 seconds and moulding of the coating and leading edge effected for 45 minutes at 80‹ C. and a pressure of 200-800 p.s.i. The coating is then baked at 80‹ C. for 4 hours, either within or out of the mould. The release coating is washed from the die blade with water.
