Abstract
1283506 Pipe couplings; valves FRANCE ARMED FORCES MINISTER OF 19 April 1971 [19 Feb 1970] 21948/71 Headings F2G and F2V A coupling for at least one pair of pipes, e.g. pipes T1, T1<SP>1</SP>, comprises two blocks 5, 13 with faces which can be directly engaged with each other, flow passages in the two blocks having valves 6, 14 which when closed prevent egress, &c. of fluid from the associated pipes, and a closure plate 19 which when it is secured to the block 13, causes both valves to open. The valve 6 has a hollow body receiving a valve-closing spring 7: the valve 14 is biased leftwards to the closed position by a spring 17, and both valves are opened by abutment of the control plate 19 with a push rod 15. Differential areas of the valve 14 and push rod 15 prevent fluid pressure opening this valve. Screws 20, 21 hold the plate and blocks together. As shown, the coupling connects pipes T1 ... T8, Fig. 1, to pipes T1<SP>1</SP> ... T8<SP>1</SP> and is mounted on a case 1. When the coupling blocks 5, 13 are separated, as in Fig. 1, their exposed faces may be covered by protective plates (23, 24), Fig. 7 (not shown).
