Abstract

1283281 Space heating or cooling units DAIKIN KOGYO CO Ltd 15 Sept 1970 [13 Nov 1969] 44023/70 Heading F4V [Also in Division F1] A space heating or cooling unit comprises a casing 1 having upper and lower air passage openings 8, 10, a heat exchanger 2 and a fan 3 having a multiblade rotor 31 and a housing 30, the housing of the fan or, as shown, the whole fan being rotatable, whereby air may be passed upwardly or downwardly through the casing, the air being cooled or heated respectively. In the form shown, two centrifugal fans 3 driven by a common motor are mounted on a pivoted flap which may be rotated to a horizontal position for cooling operation of the unit. The heat exchanger 2 is supplied with heated or cooled water or forms part of a refrigeration circuit. A filter 9 is provided at the heat exchanger 2 and at the opening 10 respectively during the heating and cooling modes of operation, a front panel 11 of the casing being removable to provide access. The casing 1 is lined with heat insulating elastic material 1<SP>1</SP>. In another embodiment, the housing of a transverse-flow rotor is rotatable about the rotor axis.
