Abstract

1283170 Transistor amplifying circuits THOMSON-CSF 19 April 1971 [27 Feb 1970] 22532/71 Heading H3T A transistor amplifier is biased by the combination of a thermally-dependent voltage and a voltage proportional to the power dissipated in the transistor. Transistor amplifier 1, Fig. 1, receives signal at terminal E, bias at terminal 2, and provides an output at terminal S. The bias at terminal 2 comprises the output of a differential amplifier 3, the input at the in-phase input 4 of which comprises the sum of the voltage from an adjustable bias source 5 and the voltage from reference voltage 7 which comprises a junction diode heated in the neighbourhood of the transistor 1. The input at the out-of-phase input 9 is derived over an R.C. modulating circuit 10 from the output of a multiplier 11, the two inputs 12, 13 of which respectively comprise a voltage proportional to the current in and voltage across, amplifier 1. The input 12 may be derived from a differential amplifier 50, Fig. 2, the inputs of which are connected across a resistor 24 of small value in the collector circuit of transistor 20, while input 13 is derived from potentiometer 13, connected between the collector of transistor 21 via diode rectifier 26 and one end of resistor 24.
