1282370 Oxidative coupling catalysts ASAHI KASEI KOGYO KK 18 Sept 1970 [26 Sept 1969 30 Sept 1969 (2) 1 Oct 1969] 44596/ 70 Heading B1E [Also in Divisions C2 and C3] A silica gel supported catalyst for the production of 3, 3'-dinitrodiphenyl from nitrobenzene is prepared by adding silica gel to a solution of palladium chloride, lead chloride and potassium chloride in dilute hydrochloric acid, evaporating the mixture to dryness and reducing in dried mass with alkaline hydrazine hydrate. After washing and drying the resulting mass is immersed in an aqueous solution of potassium acetate and the mixture evaporated to dryness and dried.
