Abstract
1281891 Stabilized unsaturated polyesters BP CHEMICALS INTERNATIONAL Ltd 18 Sept 1969 [28 Sept 1968] 46176/68 Heading C3P A prepromoted unsaturated polyester/copolymerizable monomer mixture containining a cobalt salt as a catalyst promoter, the gel time of the mixture in the presence of a peroxidic polymerization catalyst being stabilized against drift by the addition of a thiodiglycol of the formula S(ROH) 2 where R is an alkylene group. In the examples the mixtures contain an unsaturated polyester prepared from maleic anhydride, phthalic anhydride and propylene glycol, hydroquinone, cobalt naphthenate, styrene and 2,2<SP>1</SP>-dihydroxy diethyl sulphide and are gelled using methyl ethyl ketone peroxide.
