Abstract

1278949 Shuttles for stacker cranes EATON YALE & TOWNE Inc 3 Nov 1969 [1 April 1969] 53735/69 Heading B8E A shutter for a stacker crane, Fig. 2, comprises base, intermediate and load-supporting sections 88, 86, 84, Fig. 7, respectively, and when the parts are extended and retracted the load-supporting section 84 moves with a velocity more than 2¢ times that of the intermediate section 86. The intermediate section 86 is driven by a pinion 122 which engages a rack 132. The load-supporting section 84 is driven by sprockets 156, 186, Fig. 8, which engage a chain 184 fixed'to the section 84 and are themselves driven by coaxial sprockets 150, 185 which are rotated by fixed chains 154 as the intermediate section is driven. The shuttle may be extended either to the right or to the left and starting and stopping are controlled by electrical limit switches. The shuttle is gradually arrested by a shock-absorber assembly 190, Fig. 10, comprising shock-absorbers 192, 194. The latter are pivoted to each other and to a pivoted operating level 210. The lever 210 is engaged by a central stop 224 with two camfaces 222, 240 which are operative in the retracted position of the shuttle, and two stop members 242, 236 which engage the lever 210 at the extreme extended positions.
