Abstract

1278538 Tyre treads CONTINENTAL GUMMI-WERKE AG 9 Dec 1970 [15 Dec 1969] 58412/70 Heading B7C A pneumatic vehicle tyre tread comprises V- shaped blocks 3 extending in parallel rows 1, the apices 4 of which face across the tyre tread and the legs of which form angles with one another which are larger than 90 degrees, with further rows of blocks 7 which are either V-shaped or triangular forming the edges 6 of the tread surface, all the rows of blocks being separated from one another by grooves 9 the width of which is smaller than the width of the blocks, preferably 1/3 to 1/5 of the block width, and wherein spacing studs 8 are provided between the radially outermost parts of blocks only in the region of the edges of the tread surface. In the particular embodiment, studs 8 are provided only between blocks forming the tread surface edges and the V-shaped blocks adjacent thereto on block surfaces which subtend substantially equal angles with the peripheral and transverse directions of the tyre. Portions 10 of reduced depth are also provided in the grooves 9 between some of the blocks.
