Abstract

1278278 Making anchor bolts ILLINOIS TOOL WORKS Inc 30 Oct 1969 [1 Nov 1968] 53243/69 Heading B3A [Also in Division F2] An expansible fastener (see Division F2) to be anchored in a hole of a wall is formed by cutting a length from wire or rod stock material having a diameter equal to that of the finished fastener, cold forming a head and a reduced thickness end portion at opposite ends of the length, passing the length into a thread rolling device and a punch press to form a threaded shank portion and wedge portions 22, 24 which are spaced by a thin frangible portion 26. The fastener is completed by trimming the head and removing any flash remaining as a result of the punch press operation.
