Abstract
1277979 Microscopes TOKYO SHIBAURA ELECTRIC CO Ltd 4 Sept 1970 [11 Sept 1969] 42449/70 Heading G2J A reflecting microscope for detecting the shape or outline of an object 2 without detecting dust and scars on the surface thereof has a reflector 6 with a central semi-transparent portion 8 and an outer totally reflecting portion 7 positioned at an angle, e.g. 20-70 degrees, to the optical axis and a light source 5 positioned to one side of the optical axis. The reflector is preferably a glass plate (11) Fig.2 (not shown), on which is deposited a layer (9) of aluminium having a thinner central portion (10) which forms the semi-transparent portion 8. Preferably the portion 8 permits 70 to 95 per cent light transmission.
