Abstract
1277169 Shuttering for casting concrete G K N MILLS (PTY) Ltd 27 Oct 1970 [31 Oct 1969] 51083/70 Heading E1S Vertically movable shuttering for a wall comprises two strongbacks 12, 14 carrying shuttering panels 16 and defining a cavity therebetween, and lifting means, e.g. a winch 20, mounted on one strongback 12 and having a lifting element thereof, e.g. a cable 24, connected to the other strongback 14; in operation, concrete is poured into the cavity to form a lower section of the wall 18, the strongback 14 is disconnected from the cast lower section, the lifting means is driven in the forward direction to lift strongback 14 to a new position where it is anchored on the cast lower section (Fig. 2, not shown), the strongback 12 is disconnected from the lower section, and the lifting means is driven in the reverse direction to lift strongback 12 to a new position defining a cavity with strongback 14 (Fig. 3, not shown) and anchored ready to receive poured concrete forming an upper section of the wall. Portions of the cable 24 extend from the winch 20 around sheaves 26, 30, 32 to anchoring points on strongback 14 to effect such movement. Tie-bolts 44 and inserts 46 are cast in the wall and are used for anchoring the strongbacks to by means of bolts and jacks 42.1, 42.2. The lifting means may instead comprise a chain and sprockets, a rack and pinion, or a double-acting fluidoperated ram.
