Abstract

1276493 Conveying cigarettes MOLINS MACHINE CO Ltd 9 May 1969 [10 May 1968 20 Feb 1969] 22018/69 and 10941/69 Divided out of 1276492 Heading B8A A conveyer system for conveying cigarettes and other rod-like articles in tack formation in relation to which the articles lie transversely, includes two substantially horizontal conveyers 14, 15 extending in opposite directions from a junction zone above which is arranged a sensor mechanism comprising two sensor members 12, 13, which are arranged to rest on the articles in positions lying respectively approximately above the ends of the two conveyers, and including a conveyer speed-regulating mechanism 35 which controls the speed of one of the conveyers (as shown 14) and is coupled to each sensor member 12, 13 by a lost-motion device so that the speedregulating mechanism 35 can be moved in one predetermined direction as a result of movement of either one of the sensor members while the other sensor member remains stationary. As shown, the predetermined direction corresponds to downward movement of either of the sensor members. The latter are slotted and intermesh with one another. They also intermesh with stationary members 38, 39 to prevent any articles from escaping. A further embodiment (Fig. 3, not shown) is identical to that described with reference to Fig. 3 of the Specification 1,276,492.
