Abstract

1276491 Drilling jigs AJAX OF COVENTRY Ltd 23 June 1969 [30 April 1968] 20409/68 Heading B3C A work holding fixture, e.g. for use in holding hexagonal bolts and nuts during drilling, comprises a base carrying an adjustably mounted work support 3 and adjustably mounted fingers 4 for retaining a workpiece on the support in a socket defined between the fingers and support. The base 1 has upstanding arms 2 adjustably mounting the fingers 4, inner ends of which 4b may have bores 4a for guiding a drill. The position of the support 3 can be adjusted vertically. End stops in the form of screws 9 supported by adjustable arms 10, may be provided. The support 3 may include a plunger 13 operable by a pivoted lever 14 to releasably clamp a workpiece 5 between the support and fingers by exerting upward pressure on the workpiece. An adjustable height stop 22 may be provided to act as a rest for the shank 5b of a workpiece.
