Abstract

127,623. Alston, C. H. T. May 1, 1917. Two-stroke-cycle engines.-In an engine having a pair of inclined cy inde s, each of two diameters, and a common combustion space as shown in Fig. 1, separate air and combustible-mixture inlet ports in the cylinder A and exhaust parts in the cylinder A' are controlled pistons to which a combined oscillating and reciprocating motion is imparted as described in Specification 126,724. Air is compressed in the pump space B', and combustible mixture in the chamber B, the charges being delivered to passages in a chamber J having ports which register at intervals with ports in the wall of the piston. The exhaust ports may be timed to open 60 degrees in advance of the deadcentre position, being fo lowed by the opening of the air scavenging ports and finally by the opening of the mixture inlet ports.
