1276162 Optical card reader NIPPON HOSO KYOKAI and MATSUSHITA ELECTRIC INDUSTRIAL CO Ltd 9 June 1969 [14 June 1968] 29128/69 Heading G4M [Also in Division B8] In an apparatus for reading, selecting and photographing selected punched cards fed from a store of cards, piles of the stored cards are supported in hoppers spaced around stationary annular table 2 which piles may be forwarded (as required) by pivotting levers 7, Fig. 3, into pile holding frames 4 on annular rotatable table 3. Rotation of the table brings a selected pile to a position C where pusher 36 is operative to displace the pile on to a separator D. A frame 40, Fig. 5, is movable alternately in directions h and g to forward alternate cards to reading stations 10. The card reading means, Fig. 9, comprises lamps 56 and corresponding photocells 60. Light passing through perforations 51 in a card 6 passes through holes 55a in card supporting plate 55. Apertured plate 62a intercepts stray light. Selected cards are photographed in stations F and E by cameras on mounts 15 and 16 while the cards are supported on fins 65 of rotatable members 63, Fig. 12 (not shown). A processed card is released into shoot 13, Fig. 2, which directs it into a stacking device 14. The stacker is lowered as the stack grows.
