Abstract
1275623 Vibratory separator N P MOGENSEN 22 May 1969 [4 June 1968] 26306/69 Heading B2H An apparatus for grading particles of different sizes by passing them through openings in a system of obstacles comprises a frame carrying the obstacles and at least one vibrator disposed within and secured to the frame below the system of obstacles, the vibrator being offset from the centre of gravity of the frame to the same side as the particle inlet location when viewed in side elevation. As shown, a series of downwardly sloping, superposed screens 1-6 having successively increasing inclinations from the upper to the lower screen are mounted in a frame 20 which is suspended by springs, Fig. 3 (not shown). The apparatus is vibrated by two vibrators 19 fastened to a transverse wall 15 removably secured to the walls of the frame. The screens may be in the form of grids or arrays of parallel bars and have openings larger than the size of the particles being graded. In operation, the particles are fed to the screens via the feeding space 2 and are subjected to collisions against, or forces from, the screens in such a manner that the particles are brought out of their normal flow in a degree that correspond to the particle size. Particles of different sizes are collected at the lower ends of the screens and below the lower screen 6.
