Abstract

1275500 Photo-mechanical printing plate preparation FUJI PHOTO FILM CO Ltd 21 Dec 1970 [25 Dec 1969] 60609/70 Heading G2C A lithographic printing plate is made by coating a cellulose ester sheet, having a hydrophilic surface formed by hydrolysis of the sheet surface, with a silver halide emulsion, imagewise exposing and developing to form a silver image, and etchbleaching to remove the developed emulsion and the hydrophilic surface in the silver-image areas to expose the oleophilic cellulose ester by treating with an etch-bleach solution of hydrogen peroxide, optionally containing a cupric salt, an organic acid and a bromide. The etch-bleached material may be rubbed with a cloth impregnated with a solution of NaOH, NaOCl or ZnCl 2 to facilitate removal of the developed emulsion and hydrophilic layer.
