Abstract
1275090 Head up displays ELLIOTT BROS (LONDON) Ltd 3 Nov 1970 [4 Nov 1969] 53949/69 Heading G2J A head up display device comprises a semi reflector 15, a lens arrangement 14, a light source 13 and two main graticules 20, 21, the graticule 20 being plane polarizing in one direction except for a transparent portion defining an image and the graticules 21 being flame polarizing, in a direction perpendicular to the polarizing direction of the graticule 20, except for a transparent portion defining an image so that light passes through both graticules only in those regions defining the two images. The graticules 20, 21 may be moved transversely by means 22, 23. Auxiliary graticules 25, 26 may be provided between between the main graticules 20, 21, the auxiliary graticules 25, 26 being transparent except in the region of the images where they are plane polarized at angles of 45 degrees to the angles of polarization of the main graticules so that the auxiliary graticules project images rotated at 45 degrees to the main images. The polarized images of the auxiliary graticules may be replaced by "halfwave" images, thus rotating the auxiliary 90 degrees with respect to the main images.
