Display apparatus for exhibiting different coloured tufts 2 of fibre, e.g. hair, comprises a carrier 1 having a plurality of apertures 3 therein, a fibre tuft 2 arranged in and/or confronting each aperture, a light source 4 arranged on one side of the carrier, and a translucent screen 6 provided with sections of different colour arranged between the light source and the carrier, the carrier and the screen being relatively movable. The carrier and screen may be coaxial, and the light source may be, as shown, elongate and extend along the common axis. The sections of the screen may correspond to different hair colours, and the tufts to different dyes so that the effects of the dyes can be seen on different colours of hair.
