Abstract

1,273,518. Ice skate and guard. MITCHEL & KING SKATES Ltd. 24 March, 1971, No. 7730/71. Heading A6D. An ice skate of the kind having a tube to carry the blade, has a blade 2 attached to a tube 4, by means of flanges 6, the tube 4 having an end 8 which has a dome shape formed by cutting V-shaped notches 10 and bending the leaves 12 inwards, leaving an aperture 14 in the centre. A guard 16 is provided to fit over the end 8 of the tube. The guard has an aperture 20 which coincides with aperture 14 on the tube for a screw which attaches the guard to the tube. The guard also has a downwardly depending projection 22 to cover the edge of the blade, and slots (24), 26 which fit around the blade.
