Abstract

1,273,380. Ice making machines. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO. 27 Aug., 1969 [3 Sept., 1968], No. 42741/69. Heading F4H. [Also in Division A4] An ice dispenser comprises a storage section for ice cubes, a crusher section having an outlet 29, and being separated from the storage section by a wall 8 having a discharge opening 18 above the outlet 29, a horizontally extending rotatable member 22 passing through the wall above the outlet and adjacent the opening, having a dispensing section in the storage section for discharging cubes through the opening, and crushing arms 32 in the crushing section for movement into and out of the path of dispensed ice cubes, and means 36 for intercepting cubes to allow contact with the crusher arms, the means 36 being movable to an inoperative position, and the crusher arms arranged to be out of the path of ice cubes when the intercepting means are in an inoperative position. Stationary blades 33 co-operate with rotary crusher arms 32. The rotary member 22 may carry an auger in the dispensing section to dispense cubes. The dispenser, incorporated with an automatic icecube maker, may be included in a domestic refrigerator.
