A curtain is formed with folds by locating adjacent one edge of the curtain material a stiff tape 1 preformed with transverse lines of weakening 2 to define the location of the folds and securing a support band 5 to the curtain material to retain the folds. The lines 2 may be defined by perforations. The tape material may be stiffened by starching. Pleats are defined by fold sections a-d of the tape and are inter-connected by sections e.
