Abstract
1,272,777. Electro -plating fibres. INTERNATIONAL RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENT CO. Ltd. Sept.9, 1969 [Sept.23, 1968], No.45163/68. Heading C7B. Individual fibres in a bundle 9 of fibres are electro-plated by passing the bundle through one or more jets of plating electrolyte, e.g. formed by a pair of opposed nozzles 1, 2 spaced apart within chamber 3, whilst maintained at negative potential relative to the electrolyte, e.g. by contacting with cathodes 10, 11 and associating anodes 7, 8 with the nozzles in electrolyte supply ducts 4, 5. The electrolyte collecting in the chamber may be recirculated by a pump 6 and continuously filtered by units located in the ducts. The carbon fibres of an electrical current transfer brush, as described in Specification 1,191, 234, may be plated with Ag using Ag anodes and an electrolyte of Ag CN and NaCN.
