Abstract
127,232. Paban, H. A. J., and Grawitz, A. M. F. May 18, 1918, [Convention date]. Dials and scales, illuminating.-Self-luminous substance applied to surfaces such as dials, electric-bell buttons, telephone plates, keyholes, &c. is protected from wear, air, water, grease, &c. by placing over it a layer of transparent or translucid material, such as celluloid. The material, which is preferably plastic, may be moulded on the article, and may itself carry the luminous substance, or two celluloid sheets glued together, with the luminous substance between them, may be employed. When applied to a dial, the surface, or part thereof, of the dial may be rendered luminous and covered with a celluloid sheet on which the indications are traced, say in black, or the indications are left transparent and the rest of the celluloid sheet rendered opaque. To make luminous indications more visible in the day time, a sheet of paper, fabric, or other material, or dark paint, is placed between the celluloid sheet carrying the luminous substance and the article.
