Abstract
1,272,292. Coin-freed fruit machine. COIN OPERATED GAMES Ltd. 19 Jan., 1970 [22 Jan., 1969], No. 3676/69. Heading G4V. In a coin-freed " fruit machine " microswitches 22 (Fig. 1) providing a signal dependent on the final positions of the spinning drums 6 are operated by studs 11 (Fig. 2) mounted on the drums, and brought into contact with the switches only after the drums have stopped rotating. The drums 6 (Fig. 1) may be moved axially to bring the studs into engagement with the switches 22, but in the construction illustrated the switches are carried by arms 12 rooked about pivots 13 by solenoids 18 and springs 19, so that the micro-switches 22 are pushed against the studs at the same time as, or preferably just after, lugs 20 on the arms 12 engage bevelled notches in the drums to stop them. The studs 11 may be moved to different holes in the drums, to change the winning combinations, and may alternatively be carried by discs fast with the drums. The arms 12 may slide instead of pivoting, and the solenoids 18 be replaced by cams. The drums are driven through spring-applied friction clutches (see Fig. 5, not reproduced) which slip as each solenoid 18 in succession is released by a timing device to lock the associated drum 6. The studs 11 and microswitches 22 may be replaced by pairs of contact blades.
