A stop-motion responsive to excessive yarn tension comprises a pivoted yarn engaging arm 11 fixed to crank 8 which is joined by rod 14 to a spring urged slide 16. Excessive tension pivots the arm forcing the crank through the dead centre position to make contacts 20, 21. The machine is thereby stopped and an indicator lamp lights.
