Abstract

1,271,610. Laminated products. OMRON TATEISI ELECTRONICS CO. 14 Dec., 1970 [15 Dec., 1969], No. 59316/70. Heading B5N. A method of making laminated credit cards and the like comprises interposing a card having information visibly recorded thereon between a pair of plastics sheets, each having one surface coated with a layer of heat-activatable adhesive which has a softening point lower than that of the card or sheets so that the adhesive layers contact the card, one of the sheets including a layer of magnetic material beneath the adhesive layer, laminating the card and sheets by passage between heated pressure rollers and stamping out the laminate along the edge of the card. The card is of paper or polyvinyl chloride and is embossed, printed or punched. The films are of polyester or P.V.C. and the adhesive is a P.V.C. emulsion, polyvinyl acetate, ethylene/vinyl acetate copolymer or a polyurethane. The process may be effected continuously by drawing the coated plastics films from rolls.
