Abstract

1,270,901. Pharmaceutical and disinfectant compositions comprising phenyl carbamates and thiocarbamates. AGRIPAT S.A. 30 Jan., 1970 [31 Jan., 1969], No. 4466/70. Headings A5B and A5E. [Also in Division C2] Pharmaceutical compositions, having bactericidal and fungicidal activity suitable for oral or tropical administration, contain novel carbamates or thiocarbamates of the formula I wherein R 1 is a phenoxy radical substituted by at least one and at most three identical or different halogen atoms of the symbols R 2 , R 3 and R 4 at least one is Cl or Br, the others each are H, Cl, or Br; R 5 and R 7 each are H, halogen, C 1-4 alkyl, C 1-4 alkoxy C 1-4 haloalkyl, NO 2 or OH; R 6 is H, halogen, C 1-4 alkyl, C 1-4 alkoxy, di-(C 1-4 alkyl) amino or OH; and X is O or S in admixture with suitable carriers. The compositions may also contain further active ingredients such as antibacterial and/or antimycotic substances, for example, halogenated salicylic acid alkyl amides and anilides, halogenated diphenylureas, halogenated benzoxazoles, or benzozozolones, polychlorohydroxy-diphenylmethanes, 2-iminoimidazolidines, 2-iminotetrahydropyrimidines, dithiocarbamic acid derivatives, such as tetramethylthiuram disulphide, or bactericidal quaternary compounds. Disinfectant compositions comprise the above novel compounds dissolved in rinse bath solutions. Organic material or manufactured articles such as synthetic resins, paper, paints, textiles, wood or leather are protected from attack by microorganisms by applying to said microorganism an antimicrobially effective amount of one of the above novel compounds.
