Abstract
1,270,151. Rolling wire. SIEMAG SIEGENER MASCHINENBAU G.m.b.H. 25 Nov., 1969 [26 Nov., 1968], No. 57505/69. Heading B3M. [Also in Division F2] A rolling mill roll 1, suitable for an overhung wire rolling mill, is coupled by a frangible anchor bolt 12 and a keeper plate 18 to a driving sleeve 3, the sleeve being keyed to a driving shaft 2. A screw 5 may locate the sleeve axially on the shaft. The roll is rotatably coupled to the sleeve by abutments 20 which may be in the form of cylindrical (or conical) pins. The pins are located in slots in the sleeve and are engaged by wedge-shaped recesses 22 in the roll. If too great a torque is exerted on the roll, the recesses 22 ride up the pins and force the roll axially away from the pins. The bolt 12 then fractures at a weakened section 24 to prevent overloading of the roll or of its drive. In place of the pins, balls may be provided, or the sleeve may be formed with axial wedge-shaped projections which engage in corresponding recesses in the roll. By removing the sleeve from the driving shaft, the bolt can readily be replaced.
