Abstract

1,269,006. Delivering sheets. PITNEYBOWES Inc. 20 April, 1970 [23 April, 1969], No. 18795/70. Heading B8R. A stack of sheets on an inclined table 10, Figs. 1 and 2, is jogged by two paddles 22, 24 engaging the edges of sheets protruding from two sides of the stack, the paddles being pivoted to the table at 20 and oscillated by a multilobed cam 34 through levers 14, 16 having cam followers 28, 30 urged towards the cam by a spring 32. The arrangement is such that one follower rests on a cam lobe while the other is in a trough, and the paddles both rotate clockwise or counterclockwise at the same time. The cam may have twelve buttress-shaped lobes Fig. 5. Prop means comprising a bent spring wire 40 attached to the table at the upper end and freely movable in a hole in the table at the lower end holds the top corner of the stack raised so as to stiffen the sheets and avoid pinching in the event of cross-stacking, i.e. the presence of two stacks of different sizes one on top of the other.
