Abstract

1,267,826. Clamps. ROLLS-ROYCE Ltd. 16 Oct., 1970 [17 Oct., 1969], No. 51179/69. Heading E2B. [Also in Division F2] An internal clamp for insertion into sockets at the ends of two aligned pipes (see Division F2) comprises two part-cylinders 8, 10 held loosely together by a circlip 25 and having spigot ends 15, 19 so that by turning a locking screw 12 the two part-cylinders are wedged apart, for the spigot ends to grip the sockets. The ends of the pipe sockets may engage shoulders 23, or alternatively spacer rings (not shown) may be placed around necks adjacent the shoulders to provide axial adjustment of the sockets relative to the spigots. A modified form of coupling, Fig. 4 (not shown), has a neck, &c to one side only of the locking screw &c and a plain spigot on the other side.
