Abstract

1,267,702. Water-jet steering devices. J. M. VOITH G.m.b.H. 14 March, 1969 [16 March, 1968], No. 13553/69. Addition to 1,205,732. Heading B7V. A water-jet steering device comprises a pump 4 positioned in a bow bulge and communicating with a forward inlet 14 in the bulge and with a scroll 6 which is itself rotatable about the pump and communicable with at least one outlet in the bulge. Scroll 6 is secured to a member 7 rotatably supported by carrier 3 and driven by pinion 10 and servomotor 9. The scroll has a spiral duct with a tangential outlet. The central portion of casing 12 may be replaced by ribs (16, Fig. 3, not shown).
