Abstract

1,267,383. Magnetic brush developing apparatus. RICOH K.K. June 9, 1969 [June 8, 1968], No.29080/69. Heading G2H. In a magnetic brush developing apparatus, a sheet guide element is reciprocated perpendicularly to the feed path to stir the magnetic brush. As shown developer falls from hopper 6 on to magnetic drum 1 to form brushes at the two poles. Electrophotographic sheet 23 is fed downwards between continuous belt 8 and rollers 14 and 15 15 and then upwards past the opposite side of drum 1 by similar guide means. Guide elements 18 and 19 comprising a plurality of wires are suspended from grooves in the rollers 14 and 16 with their lower ends in cam grooves in rollers 15 and 17 17 so that they reciprocate along a direction parallel with the drum axis to stir the developer forming the brushes. In a second embodiment Figs.3 and 4 (not shown) wire guides 18 and 19 are replaced by endless nylon filaments 36 wound on grooves in rollers (27, 29, 30, 31) the upper rollers being reciprocated by the camming action of fixed pins (34 and 35).
