Abstract

126,722. Royce, F. H., and Rolls- Royce, Ltd. Feb. 27, 1917. Spray carburettors.- In apparatus of the type in which the throttle valve is on the engine side of the jet and in which the nozzle comprises two concentric annular vertical chambers communicating by a series of orifices, the top of the float tank p and the top of one vertical chamber c, which is in communication with the atmosphere. are in simultaneous communication through a pipe m with the main air intake f at a point remote from the choke tube. The float tank p is connected by a pipe n to an annular chamber m<2> at the base of the nozzle. The top of the chamber c is in communication also with the chamber m<2> through the passage m<3>, and the pipe m leads from the chamber m<2> to the mouth of the main air intake. Oil spilt from the float tank or from the chamber c issues from the pipe m, is collected in the main air intake, and is drained therefrom through the pipe l. When running slowly, the engines draws its fuel through the jet a<4>.
