Abstract

126,565. Morterud, E. Oct. 1, 1918. Surface condensers. - In surface condensers of the type in which steam &c. is condensed while passing through a cooled tube E, a portion of the steam from the outlet end B of the condenser is led back, as by a pipe F, pump G, and pipes H, to one or more points I, J, K between the inlet and outlet ends A, B in order to maintain a uniform velocity of steam through the condenser and thus increase the efficiency of the heat transmission. The tube E is cooled by a jacket through which the cooling-medium flows in counter-current to the steam.
