A ferrite comprises oxides of iron (e.g. 70-78 wt. per cent), zinc (e.g. 8-16 wt. per cent), nickel (e.g. 6-12 wt. per cent), cobalt (e.g. 0À5-2À0 wt. per cent), manganese (e.g. 1À0-5À0 wt. per cent), magnesium (e.g. 0À3-3À5 wt. per cent) and chromium (e.g. 0À1-1À5 wt. per cent). Cores are made by calcining a mixture of oxides, dry- or wet-milling the resulting ferrite, pressing the cores from a mixture of ferrite and P.V.A. solution, and sintering. The products have a high quality factor at 1-60 mc. and are used as antenna cores and broadband transformer cores under high-frequency conditions.
