Abstract
1,265,100. Grinding. NATIONAL CASH REGISTER CO. 19 Oct., 1970 [27 Oct., 1969], No. 49456/70. Heading B3D. [Also in Divisions B6, C1 and H5] A grinding machine for rounding off the edges of and forming grooves in an end surface of an insulating substrate 22, e.g. of glass, porcelain or ceramics for a thermal print head (see Division B6) comprises a rotating disc 84 carrying abrasive paper 94 and a head 98 against which the substrate 22 is held by a vacuum installation 104. The substrate is supported along a radius of the disc 84, offset from the centre. A handle 112 permits the head 98 to be rotated about an axis perpendicular to the axis of the disc 84 to round off the edges of the substrate.
