Abstract
1,264,975. Sterile surgical packages. JOHNSON & JOHNSON. 28 Feb., 1969, No. 10874/69. Heading B8C. A sterile surgical package 100 comprises a bacteria-impermeable paperboard outer wrapper having an integral tear-strip 108, Fig. 1, defined by, e.g., two parallel scorelines 104, 105. An underlying sterile paper sheet 102 lines the outer wrapper but is attached to it only within the tear-strip edges at 113 and outside the tearstrip at 114, 115, Fig. 2, so that upon removal of the tear-strip by pulling a tab 124 parts 111, 112 of the sterile sheet 102 remaining will overlie the exposed edges of the outer wrapper to prevent contamination of articles upon their removal. A transverse scoreline 127 is cut in the inner surface of the outer wrapper in the region of the thermoplastic seal 121 to terminate any internal delamination of the tear-strip in this area when pulling the tab 124. The scorelines need not be continuous and can be of any non- intersecting configuration.
