Abstract

1,264,649. Backsaws. STANLEY WORKS (GREAT BRITAIN) Ltd. 7 Jan., 1971 [8 Oct., 1969], No. 49475/69. Heading B5L. The rear edge portion of a backsaw blade 1 is shaped to provide a longitudinally extending stiffening rib or ribs, and a back of synthetic plastics, e.g. polypropylene or impact resistant polystyrene, is moulded on to the blade over the ribbed portion. The saw may be made by punching or drilling holes 3 in the blade 1, bending the blade to form the rib or ribs, supporting the saw in a mould, pouring plastics into the mould to form the back and flow through the holes 3, and allowing the plastics to set around the blade. A handle may be moulded integrally with the saw back.
