Abstract

1,263,916. Treating water. N. WADDLETON (Dosab). 17 Dec., 1968, No. 28764/68. Heading C1C. The growth of slime-forming organisms in a paper-making machine is inhibited by dispersing at two or more points in the flow path of the water-flow system of the machine doses each comprising a measured quantity of the same slime-inhibiting substance. The sizes of the doses and their spacing along the flow path is such as to maintain the concentration of inhibitor in the system above a slime-inhibiting level. An apparatus for this purpose has supply lines to each dosing point from a common reservoir, and valves controlling the supply of inhibitor to each point.
