1,263,888. Chain-shift change-speed gear. J. A. HURET, and R. H. HURET. 17 Dec., 1970 [20 Oct., 1970], No. 60053/70. Heading F2D. In a derailleur-type chain shift change-speed gear for cycles having a laterally shiftable articulated carrier linkage 11, 12 and 14, supporting two jockey pulleys 10, 16, mounted on a parallel linkage 8 one end of which is pivotally mounted on a bracket 7 fixed at 6 adjacent the rear wheel, a chain guide 1 is freely pivotally mounted adjacent the jockey pulley 10 at the pivot support 9 of the articulated carrier unit 11-14. The chain guide 1 is formed with inturned sides 21 to retain the chain 5 on the derailleur unit during dismantling of the assembly and is provided at its outer end with a U-shaped plastics shoe to ensure silent running of the chain 5 through the guide 1.
