Abstract

1,263,864. Electric motors. SIEMENS A.G. 12 Feb., 1970 [13 Feb., 1969], No. 6922/70. Heading H2A. A synchronous electric motor includes an excitation coil 1 mounted on a former 2 of electrically insulating material having a projection 4, or projections, supporting a rotor, the former being mounted between two stator pole supports 11, 12 so as to be coaxial with an array of stator polepieces 9, 10. The polepieces are stamped out of the supports 11, 12 and bent over to engage the inner surface of the former. The rotor shaft 3 may be of plastics material and is formed integrally with a support 7 for a ring shaped permanent magnet 8. Metal bearing parts may be formed in the projection 4. Alternatively the shaft 3 may be of steel. The pole supports may have interengaging tabs and slats, or may be adhesively bonded, welded or riveted together. In a modification, Fig. 10 (not shown) the former has a projection on the motor axis, the projection supporting a plastics part (33) carrying the rotor magnet and including an output shaft (34).
