Abstract

1,261,569. Windscreen wipers. GENERAL MOTORS Ltd. Oct. 22, 1970 [Oct. 23, 1969], No. 52082/69. Heading A4F. In a vehicle windscreen wiper system a pair of spaced wiper arm pivot housings 2 a wiper motor 4, and drive linkage are carried by a frame mounted on an internal vehicle panel 9 as a first order lever having at opposite ends the pivot housings 2 and an attachment point 6 of the frame 1, and fulcrummed intermediate its ends on the panel 9, the arrangement being such that when the point 6 is attached to an internal vehicle body panel, as by a bolt 23 and a bracket 7, the frame 1 is so supported at its fulcrum that the pivot housings 2 project through openings provided therefor in an external vehicle body panel 20. In the illustrated embodiment the frame 1 is T-shaped and its arm 5 has two V-shaped struts 16 pivotally supported on two fulcrum pads 17 on a bracket 18 on the panel 9. Alternatively the point 6 of the arm 5 may be attached to the vehicle body by a tension spring or by a rubber band.
