Abstract

1,261,507. Screws. KARCHER SCHRAUBENWERKE G.m.b.H. 6 Oct., 1970 [10 Dec., 1969], No. 47343/70. Heading F2H. In a metal screw 1 having a head 3 covered with a moulded-on plastics cap 6, the head 3 has a radial flange 2 at its base and tapers inwardly towards said flange and has longitudinal ribs 4 the radial dimensions of which reduce towards the flange. The taper is produced by upsetting the head in the cold state to leave a conical recess 8 in its upper end. The plastics cap 6 has a hexagonal outer surface and extends outwardly over the flange 2 to form a resilient flange the lower surface of which may be flush with the flange 2 surface or, as shown, be inclined relative to the flange 2 surface in a direction away from the head, to provide a seal when the screw is screwed into a surface.
