Abstract

1,260,747. Core constructions. COMPAGNIE ELECTRO-MECANIQUE. 30 Jan., 1969 [30 Jan., 1968], No. 5133/69. Heading H2A. A D.C. or synchronous rotary electric machine comprises a stator including a plurality of poles 1 mounted on a yoke 7, each pole comprising a magnetic core 4 and a polepiece 5, the centre line of each core being offset relative to that of the associated polepiece. The rotor may be discoidal, as shown, or cylindrical, and may comprise a winding without a magnetic core. The stator poles may be interdigitated and mounted on a common yoke, Figs. 3, 4, 5 (not shown), there being either a separate exciting winding for each pole (Fig. 3) or a single annular winding located between the cores (Figs. 4, 5). Alternate poles may be integrally cast with an annular section of the yoke, the two sections then being placed together leaving an annular channel for a single winding, Figs. 7, 8 (not shown). In machines having a magnetic core on the rotor, interpoles 18, Figs. 9, 11 (not shown) may be provided on the stator. The surfaces of the polepieces adjacent the air gap may be elliptical, rectangular, circular, ovoid or polygonal.
